Eczema Skin Symptoms Triggered By Harmful Ingredients In Personal Care Products

Everyday, a typical adult uses many type of cosmetics or personal-care products. Unfortunately, many of these products contain chemicals that can worsen or trigger for those who are prone to eczema flare ups and with sensitive skin. It has been estimated that the exposure has been estimated to be an average of 126 chemicals per day from the use of personal care products.

Sadly, many of us continue to use these produces due to unawareness about the harm that these chemicals can cause. Also, most of the products on the shelves at the stores do contain these chemicals and it would be hard to avoid them totally.

Recently, there are more studies done that show that humans who are exposed to these chemicals do suffer ill effects such as eczema skin symptoms. While you may think that these chemicals are only applied topically on our skin, they can still penetrate into our bloodstream and are absorbed by our bodies. Evidence of this can be found in the new contraceptive patch or even the nicotine patch.

Some of the ingredients in personal care products that can get into our bloodstream via our skin include:

1. Mineral oil. Mineral oil is oftentimes found in lipstick, lotions and makeup removers. This chemical can also clog up your pores because it does not allow your skin to breathe or release toxins. Inhibiting your skin in this way will slow down the functioning of your skin. It will also inhibit the normal development of cells. With this in mind, you should be able to clearly see that the use of mineral oil will cause your skin to age prematurely.

2. Formaldehyde. This ingredient is something that is widely used in soaps, nail hardeners, lipsticks, body lotions and shampoos. It acts as a germicide, preservative and fungicide. Since it is also a powerful carcinogenic and mutagenic, which can damage and prevent your body from repairing its DNA. This chemical has been banned in both Sweden and Japan.

3. Petrolatum. Petrolatum is commonly known as mineral oil jelly. It is a petroleum derivative that is commonly used in lip balms. This chemical clogs skin from taking in oxygen and releasing toxins, which can cause you to have acne. Some of the other things that can happen whenever you use petrolatum is sensitivity to the sun and chapping.

4. Synthetic fragrances. If you like to smell good with many sprays of perfume, you probably do not realize that perfume can contain hundreds of chemicals which can enter your body. Perfumes are toxins and they can cause headaches, rashes, coughing, dizziness, vomiting and skin irritations. The hydrocarbons that are found in these fragrances oftentimes contain formaldehyde, styrene, toluene and phenol. These are chemicals that can cause depression, exhaustion, anxiety, dizziness, diminished blood flow an brain damage.

5. Methyl, Propyl, Butyl and Ethyl Parabens. These are all used as preservatives in order to extend the shelf lives of many personal care products. These chemicals can cause allergic reactions and rashes. They can also increase your risk to developing cancer because these chemicals also contain highly toxic formaldehyde-releasing ingredients that are carcinogenic.

6. Propylene Glycol. Propylene glycol is a chemical that is derived from petroleum. It is used as a humectant, which is a chemical that will keep products moist. However, it also breaks down protein and cellular structure. This chemical is used in a lot of antiperspirants, suntan lotions, lipsticks and hair care products. Workers who make these products that contain propylene glycol are required to wear protective gloves, clothing and goggles. In the United States this chemical is listed as a skin and eye irritant. It is also considered to be a possible carcinogen because it is known to cause both liver and kidney damage.

7. Retinyl Palmitate. This is a topical form of Vitamin A. In Canada this product is listed as a toxin.

8. Sodium Lauryl (Laureth) Sulfate. This is often referred to as SLS or SLES. SLS was originally used as an industrial garage floor cleaner. However, it can now be found in several inexpensive shampoos, toothpastes, bubble baths and lotions. You may not be aware that SLS is irritating, causes skin irritations, itchiness, cracking, dandruff and infections in children who use bubble bath with this in it. Even animals have been damaged by SLS. Whenever this is mixed with other common chemicals that are found in cosmetics it will create nitrates in your body before it ultimately produces carcinogens.

9. Polyethylene Glycol. Polyethylene Glycol is often shortened to PEG. It is used to dissolve oil and grease. While this chemical is normally found in spray-on oven cleaners, you should also know that it can also be found in many hair care and skin care products. In personal care products, it is also used as a thickener. However, when this chemical reaches your skin, they strip the natural moisture from your skin, leaving your skin and your immune system vulnerable. It is also possible that PEG can cause cancer.

10. DEA (Diethanolamine), MEA (Monoethanolamine) and TEA (Triethanolamine). You will find these chemicals in bubble baths, shampoos, soaps and facial cleansers. Unfortunately, your skin can easily absorb these chemicals. They are essentially hormone-disrupting chemicals that can also form cancer agents. You should know that research has been conducted that indicates that there is a strong link to both liver and kidney cancer.

11. Imidazolidinyl Urea ( IU) and Diazolidinyl Urea (DU). These are very common chemicals that are found in cosmetic preservatives. They are also found in baby shampoos, lotions and creams. These chemicals are known to cause eczema symptoms, dermatitis, joint pain, allergies, depression, headaches, chest pain, ear infections, chronic fatigue, dizziness, loss of sleep, weakening of the immune system and cancer.

12. Isopropyl Alcohol. It is derived from petroleum. It is used in antifreeze and shellac. It is also used in hair color rinses, body rubs, hand lotion and aftershave lotions. The side effects from using these personal care products include headache, dizziness, depression, nausea, vomiting and in some cases you could also go into a coma. When isopropyl alcohol penetrates your skin, it can destroy your intestinal flora, thus leaving the major organs in your body open to parasites and cancers.

Manufacturers of personal care products say that the synthetic ingredients are in safe proportions and therefore can hardly cause any harm or impact. Also, it is hard to prove that eczema or other allergic symptoms stem from the absorption of these ingredients. Some researchers believe otherwise. They argue that low exposure over a period of time can cause a toxic build up that can eventually produce side effects. They argue that cancer or a reaction does not develop overnight.

Of course, the above list is by no means exhaustive. There are other chemicals contained in personal care products that you may be sensitive to. If you have eczema prone skin, it is in your best interest to minimize the use of these type of products. Doctors and researchers are only starting to realize what the long-term effects of these ingredients will be. We can also do our part by demanding safer personal care products once we become aware about the harmful effects of the synthetic ingredients contained within.

Skin Boils

What are skin boils?

Boils, or skin abscesses, are localized infections deep in the skin. The center of the boil becomes filled with white blood cells, bacteria, and proteins known as “pus.” Different causes of skin boils create different types of boils.

There are four main kinds of boils:

Furuncle or carbuncle. This type of skin abscess is caused by a bacterium called Staphylococcus aurus. It is often accompanied by fever or chills.

Cystic acne. This type of boil occurs when oils ducts become clogged and infected. It is most common on the face. It is particularly common in adolescents.

Hidradenitis suppurativa. With this condition, multiple skin boils form in the armpits or groin due to infected sweat glands. Antibiotics are usually not effective and a surgical procedure to remove the sweat glands is usually required.

Pilonidal cysts. These skin boils usually form in the crease of the buttocks. They begin as tiny infections of the hair follicles. The irritation from the direct pressure of sitting causes the inflammation to grow. These boils often form after long trips when one has been sitting for prolonged periods of time.

There are other kinds of skin boils, but these are the most common types.

Causes of skin boils

Common causes of skin boils include bacteria that can enter the skin if a foreign object such as a splinter becomes lodged in the skin, ingrown hairs, clogged hair follicles, clogged oil ducts, and clogged sweat glands.

Prevention

Skin boils can often be prevented. If you get a splinter of other foreign objected under your skin, remove it with tweezers. If you cannot grasp the object with tweezers, try gently squeezing the skin and pushing the object toward the surface of the skin. If you are unable to remove the object, see a doctor. Do not leave the foreign object under your skin, as you will likely develop an infection.

If you have ingrown hairs, try applying hot, moist compresses to the area. Then use tweezers and try to gently free the hair from the skin. Be careful not to break the skin, however. Don’t worry if you are unable to free the hair; most ingrown hairs will heal on their own.

To prevent cystic acne, wash the face twice a day with mild soap and water. If you are prone to acne, use a gentle cleanser designed to prevent acne. Wear minimal makeup, as cosmetics can clog the oil ducts and lead to acne and boils.

Boil Treatment

Skin boils can often be treated at home with hot soaks or hot packs. Boil treatment should begin as soon as the boil is formed for best results. Heat application increases circulation and brings antibodies and white blood cells (which help fight infection) to the surface of the skin.

Sometimes the appropriate boil treatment depends upon the cause of skin boils. Boils caused by an infection are often treated with antibiotics. In other cases, a doctor will have to surgically open the boil to drain the pus. If this is the case, make sure to follow the doctor’s instructions about how to care for the site afterward in order to prevent further infection. Don’t try to squeeze or poke boils to drain them on your own. That can cause the infection to spread and worsen.

As mentioned earlier, hidradenitis suppurativa boils do not always respond to antibiotics and sometimes sweat glands must be surgically removed.

If you have skin boils that do not respond to home treatment such as hot soaks, see your doctor to find out the cause of skin boils and be properly treated.

Why Do People Get Oily Skin

In an area just below the surface, there are natural sebaceous glands. These are small and many in number. These glands make an oily substance called sedum. This natural oil performs the function of keeping the surface smooth and supple. So how does this work?Well tiny pores allow the sedum to come to the surface. Hairs also grow through these small cavities, which is how nature intended it to be.

The real cause and why it occurs. The cause lies in the over capacity of the glands. These sebaceous glands secrete or make the oily substance leak out onto the surface. Here lies the real problem. People who are especially sensitive to normal blood levels of a hormone called testosterone. This is normally found in both sexes. These people are most likely to be susceptible to a breakout occurring. The sebaceous glands react to the testosterone, causing the excretion of the oily substances, which in turn leads to the breakout's occurring or at least the person is much more prone to developing an attack of spots.

People prone to breakouts and sudden appearance of the dreaded colored domes may want to learn a little more about hormone and how it is created. The testosterone triggers those sebaceous glands to give out or produce to much sedum. To make the situation worse, the dead skin cells lining the openings of the hair follicles are not shed properly and lead to the clogging of hair follicles. The hair follicles are the tubes that hold the hair in the normal fashion. These both conspire to cause a build up of the oily substance in the hair follicle. The result is blockheads and the various other indicators common to an attack.

Some people may be lucky and not require acne treatment at all. the symptoms do not develop or progressing any further than this.

Unfortunate for some people,a build up of the oily substance in hair follicles,is an environment ideal for a certain bacterium. This bacterium is called Propionibacterium ances. The oily substances present, encourage it to grow. Typically the affected areas are the surface of the face, the back, sometimes neck, even the chest. Additional areas are the arms and depending on the natural make up of the person affected, the severity of the condition can vary. People of all colors and complexions can be affected. The processes that cause pimples are exactly the same in people with black or brown, dark, even yellow types. The impact is altered by pigmentation or coloring at the surface of the skin. This medical condition is quite natural and very common and affects about 8 in 10 people between the ages of 11-30 at some time.

New Discovery About Common Skin Disorders And What You Can Do About Them

Skin disorders can include acne, melasma, freckles, age spot, and many times are nothing more serious than something that looks bad. Of course in case like severe acne there may not be anything worse, especially to a teenager. Let's take a look at these common skin disorders and how they can be treated if they need to be.

Melasma

Melasma is a condition in which pigmentation of the cheeks of the face darkens into tan or brown patches. It is also know as Chloasma. Although it can affect anyone, melasma is particularly common in women.

Nearly 50% of all pregnant women and those who are taking oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy medications will get Melasma. Affected areas are those that are usually exposed to the sun, therefore the most common treatments include wearing sun block, bleach, and then just giving it time to go away.

Freckles

Freckles are small tan spots of melanin on the skin of people with fair complexions. Freckles are not a skin disorder. In dermatology, the synonym ephelides is used to designate freckles. You see freckles more often in children or in people with red hair and complexion.

Age Spots

Age spots are also known as liver spots and begin to show up in people over the age of 40. They are most noticeable on the hands, shoulders, forehead, face, and arms. In most cases, age spots pose no threat and no treatment is necessary. Depending on how bad they look some people will elect to have them removed with laser surgery.

Acne

Acne is the most common skin disorder and is usually found on teenagers. It is normal for adults to have acne at some point in their lives. The most common form of acne is known as "acne vulgaris", meaning "common acne."

This is the type of acne teenagers get and we know it as pimples or zits. They are also referred to as blackheads or whiteheads.

Pimples are found mainly on the face, shoulders, back, chest and upper arms. This is the specific part of the body that is troublesome and it is called the "T" zone. Pimples are infections that grow when whiteheads split the follicle wall.

After the split, solidified sebum, dead cells, and bacteria enter the skin. The red blemishes on the face, chest and back are caused by the aforementioned dead cells and bacteria that invade your skin layers.

Acne is thought to be caused by one or more of these things.

- Hormonal activity, such as menstrual cycles and puberty
- Stress, through increased output of hormones from the adrenal (stress) glands.
- Hyperactive sebaceous glands, secondary to the three hormone sources above.
- Accumulation of dead skin cells.
- Bacteria in the pores, to which the body becomes 'allergic'.
- Skin irritation or scratching of any sort will activate inflammation.
- Use of anabolic steroids.
- Any medication containing halogens (iodides, chlorides, bromides), lithium, barbiturates, or androgens.
- Exposure to high levels of chlorine compound can cause severe, long-lasting acne, known as Chloracne.

Let's take a look at acne control and acne treatment once you have your acne under control. First of all in most teenagers acne clears up naturally with little scarring.

This may help put your mind at ease if you have acne.

- Pimples will clear up over time.
- They are not infectious.
- Do not worry about how they look. If you are not self conscious most people you are around will not be either.

A common question that comes up when you get a pimple is should you pop it. Professionals in the medical field do not agree on the practice of popping zits. Some say that popping zits will not scar you, but others believe it is a large contributor to more infections and increased tissue damage. Either way the decision to get rid of them should be done with care and knowledge.

One thing that you can do to help yourself is put more nutrients in your body. Other than vitamin E and B Complex, there are some other nutrients and minerals which are important in the prevention and cure of acne.

These include Zinc, Magnesium, Selenium, vitamin A and essential fatty acids. These all have properties which help in keeping skin healthy and preventing acne formation by strengthening the immune system.

Another thing you can do to control acne and to treat it is us Benzoyl Peroxide. This is one of the top five recommended treatments for mild acne, including whiteheads and blackheads. While acne is not curable, it is 100% treatable with Benzoyl Peroxide.

We have looked at Melasma, age spots, freckles, and acne as they relate to skin disorders. There is a very good chance that at some point in your life you will experience one or more of these different things on your skin.

Except in rare cases it is normal and not anything you have to worry about. You can do things yourself to treat your problems or if you feel you should go and see your doctor for his advice.

Summary: Skin disorders can include acne, melasma, freckles, age spot, and many times are nothing more serious than something that looks bad. Let's take a look at these common skin disorders and how they can be treated if they need to be.

Aging - How Much Does the Mind Have To Do With It

What is the most important factor in slowing the aging process? I believe that it is our mind.We mist keep our mind sharp, the sharper the better. We need to exercise and ingest good nutrition, no doubt. But, in order to do everything we need to do, we must process it through our brain. Having the proper frame of mind is essential. Our attitude, our habits, the company we keep, these are all a big part of the aging or anti-aging process.

In this day, in history, an attitude of positive belief affecting our lives. Now, this is not new, but it is being expressed a lot more these days. The law of attraction is responsible for where we are right now. We are exactly where we are because of everything we thought and did to this moment in time. We attract like unto ourselves. We attract everything that comes into our life. This includes our our present state of our physical and mental health. We must, properly care for our bodies. this all really starts in the mind, and having a good attitude. Read. Read about something new, something you are interest in or something you are not familiar with. Do something new and different. Did you know that when you do something out of your ordinary lifestyle, You brain becomes more active. New neuronal pathways are formed in the brain. The brain is stimulated and new part of your brain is used.

As we use our new brain power, we can help our bodies as well. Use your mind to help regenerate your body. Some of our mind expansion should be in regards to our health and slowing down the aging process. Read and study ways to keep yourself younger. Red it. Study it. Understand it. Believe it. Perform new physical exercises. Whether it be stretching, yoga, weight training, riding and exercise biking or just taking a walk. Something new and different, just do it. You will get the blood in your body moving faster.Your blood will clean out toxins, toxins that may you age.

Good nutrition is vital to slowing down the aging process. Read about it. Keep your mind fresh as you fuel your body. Understand why you should eat less red meal and more fish. Read some materials about vitamins, minerals, and herbals. Discover which ones will help slow down the aging process. Besides eating well, you should take nutritional supplements. There are B-vitamins for your nervous system. Antioxidants, such as Vitamin-E, Vitamin-C, selenium, alpha-lipoic acid, and co enzyme Q-10 are major factors in fighting and aging body. There are herbal products, gingko bilabo for the brain, grape seed extract and green tea for strengthening your arteries, and many, many more.

More new compounds are being discovered all the time. Well, they are not being discovered - they were always there. We are just finding out about them. For instance, there is a village in Japan, where 85year olds and older make up 10% of it's population ( this is about 10 times higher than the average in the good old USA ). Also, the villages have smooth wrinkle-free skin into their 70's. A Japanese pharmaceutical company studied the diet there. A starchy vegetable is a mainstay in the diet. It happens to full of hyaluronic acid. Now, hyaluronic acid is present everywhere in out bodies. It helps cushion our joints. It is in high concentrations in our eyes. It helps keep skin smooth and younger looking. Now that is some interesting reading. There are tons of good stories out there. Stimulate your mind. Fuel your body with good nutrition. Exercise your body and get sufficient rest. Have a long, healthy, happy life.

METHODS OF APPLICATION:

1) DIRECT INHALATION is the method used most in Germany and the one I primarily uses for best therapeutic results.

PLEASE NOTE: Stimulating circulation of your blood, lymph and nerve flow through rhythmic breathing in conjunction with inhalation of aromatic oils enhances their delivery into your system!

FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS - Dispense 1-3 drops of oil onto a cotton ball or a tissue. Slowly introduce the oil into your system by breathing them in for 30-60 seconds. Close your eyes and inhale. Breathe in slowly and pause briefly on your inhaled breath. Then slowly exhale, letting go of any tension. Repeat this slow, rhythmic breathing five more times. Allow yourself to relax for a moment into a feeling of well-being.

Aromatic oils stimulate your olfactory nerves which send a signal to your brain's neuro-receptors, triggering numerous electro-chemical responses.

Through cellular respiration, or breathing, aromatic vapors enter the lungs for immediate release into the blood stream for distribution to every cell in your body. Research shows that essential oils will remain in your bloodstream for up to 4-6 hours.

2) AROMATIC MIST - Use as a room spray and deodorizer. DIRECTIONS - To 4 ounces of distilled water add 80-120 drops of your essential oil, shake well and spray

IMMUNE STIMULANT BLEND: Lemon, Eucalyptus, Thyme, Tea Tree, Lavender, Cinnamon Leaf and Bark, Ravensara, Clove

PLEASE NOTE: There are many cheap, synthetic copies of aromatic oils, but these are not recommended for therapeutic use. For best results purchase the highest quality oils you can possibly find. Use certified organic essential oils, or oils that have been tested and are pesticide free.

Did You Hear The One About the 77 Year Old Body Building Grandma?

It's pretty hard to be fit over 40, isn't it?

Or is it?

Well, have you heard about Kelly Nelson or Morjorie Newlin...two body building grandmas?

Read on and learn about Kelly and Morjorie and what each chose to do with "the rest of her life".

People will give you all kinds of reasons for being out of shape, not exercising, or both. Sometimes it's, "I don't have the time" or "I don't feel like it" or "That's just a waste of time". Sometimes these are real sentiments and beliefs, but, upon occasion, they are masks for, "I'm too old to get fit".

Kelly Nelson began weight lifting in 1980, or more specifically, training with weights, at age 53. Up until that point in her life, there had been nothing athletic about her existence. Her mission was simple. She thought the backs of her arms needed some work.

As she found out, they needed a "workout".

She began working out on her own at home, and, when she saw what weight lifting, or more properly, "weight training", could do for the backs of her arms, which she was surprised to learn were called "triceps", she figured maybe this weight lifting stuff could work for the rest of her.

So, this 53 year old non-athlete, began a regular exercise program.

About 6 months later, she convinced her daughter, Colleen Fisher, who is about 30 years younger, to begin training with her, and eventually Colleen began winning body building competitions.

In 1983, after 3 years of training, and never having trained in a real gym, Kelly competed in her first body building competition. She won that competition and never looked back. She has been competing, and training, since.

Is it possible that this body building grandma may be the oldest female body builder around? We will see.

Both mother and daughter have accepting the lifestyle of body building and weight training as the way they wish to live. That may be a bit much for some people, but they certainly serve as role models for what the over-40 crowd can do. At one time, Kelly regularly rode a bicycle to and from the gym where she trained, 10 miles each way, proving again that fitness after 50 is not an impossible dream.

Kelly Nelson has been quoted as saying, "Aging is a disease- and I don't have it. Nor do I intend to get it!" If the photos taken of her in her late 70's wearing a bikini and flexin' up a storm are any indication, she hasn't gotten it yet.

Kelly Nelson, the 77 year old body building grandma, has come a long way since beginning the fitness lifestyle while a housewife in the 80's. Since then she has won numerous body building championships and now, with her daughter, markets her own line of fitness training videos.

As my wife and daughters like to say, "You go, girl!"

I haven't had a chance yet to tell you about 86 year old Morjorie Newlin, and her numerous awards from her thirteen years of body building competitions. Did I say Kelly Nelson was still competing in her 70's? Well, Morjorie Newlin BEGAN TRAINING at age 72.

What got her upset enough to begin a body building career that has taken her to competitions in Italy, France, and Germany and helped her furnish a room with her awards? She could no longer lift the 50 pound bags of kitty litter she needed to take care of her cat! Two years later, she won her first body building competition.

Now, let's see. At age 53, Kelly Nelson began weight lifting because she didn't like the looks of the backs of her arms. At age 72, Morjorie Newlin decided she wanted to be independent enough to take care of her cat. From such simple starts, each body building grandma gained fame and recognition for deciding that is IS possible to do what most people feel is impossible for them.

They have also proven that women in their 70's and 80's CAN look HOT in a string bikini. How's that for busting up a stereotype?

Even more, they proved that age does not always have the last word on how a person shall live that portion of their lives that has been called the "golden years".

Or, as Morjorie put it, "I want to be as independent as I can be, for as long as I can,"

Looks like if her 80's are an example, her 90's are really going to be fun!

Oh! I'm sorry!

What were you were telling me about how impossible it is for YOU to be fit over 40?

Acne and Acne Scars

There are different types of acne, and each can leave different types of scars, defined by tissue response to inflammation. They are scars caused by tissue formation, and scars caused by loss of tissue. The most common type is Acne Vulgaris which is also known as Acne Simplex. Other types of Acne include Acne Cosmetica, Acne Excriee, Cystic Acne and Occupational Acne.

Acne vulgaris is an inflammatory disease of the skin, caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland). Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, spots, plukes or zits. This type of acne is common in youth, appearing from those range from 12 to 20 years olds and lasting from 5 to 10 years if untreated.

Acne cosmetica refers to acne caused by the use of cosmetics. The mechanism was presumably a chemically induced plugging of the pilosebaceous orifice. This was a significant problem for dermatologists, but with the improved formulations produced by cosmetic chemists over the past thirty years, this is now a relatively rare.

Acne Excoriee is usually found in young girls, beginning in adolescence years. Girls may find pimples and start scratching at it viciously. The skin got damaged by the fingernails and is not able to heal due to the persistent scratching, which leaves a broad, shallow scars.

Cystic acne is one of the most severe forms of acne. Nodules form under the skin, then later harden into painful cysts. This type of acne requires medical attention, and usually persists for long period of times, often weeks or even months.

Occupational acne is a localized form of acne caused by the exposure of the skin to chemicals and irritant substances found in the workplace. Occupational acne has fallen in recent years due to better Health and Safety legislations and improved industrial working practices.

Understanding the key aspects of what acne is and their causes, will place acne sufferers to more complex issues relating to acne care and to make important decisions about acne treatments.

Laser Acne Treatment - Acne Treatments - Treatments for Acne What You Need to Know

The resurfacing of the skin has become widely popular since the ungodly feeling of dermabrasion is also used as an alternative. Some lasers have also made significant results against the fight against acne also. The laser treatments only works by stimulating the growth of the collagen beneath the scarred tissue. There are simply two main types of a laser and laser treatment.

Ablative lasers and treatment

Ablative is the stronger of the two lasers that will successfully remove the outer layer of the skin that will hopefully remove any scarred skin tissue and successfully help the collagen to grow. Although, further scarring of the skin tissue is very likely and there is still the risk of an infection of the wounds. This type of laser treatment is more popular due to a lower risk.

Non ablative lasers and treatments

The non ablative laser will target the collagen far beneath the skin tissue to promote collagen growth without continuing to damage the surface of the skin. These types of lasers are highly effective for far less severe scarring. The three types of non ablative lasers are infrared lasers, N-Lite lasers and sprinkling lasers.

Infrared lasers are great for scar removal and are good for mostly all skin types since the skins pigment is hardly absorbed by the the skins pigment, melanin. Light heats the collagen to successfully promote tightening of the skin tissue while the skin is actively cooled to avoid any damage.

The N-lite laser is another non-ablative laser treatment method that is used to continue and trigger collagen growth. The side effects of this laser treatment are only short term unlike isotretinoin or any long term medications or prescription treatments.

The N-Lite laser has also been used as a find line and wrinkle removal solution.

The Sprinkling laser treatment method is one of the most recent of the laser treatments. This method has a similar goal of producing collagen and the sprinkling laser shoots a small cluster of beams burning in dot like patterns. Then the growing collagen will in turn fill the spaces between the dots.

The skin will successfully heal a lot quicker and has a lesser chance of injury.

Tips for Ridding Yourself of Acne

Acne is a skin disorder believed to affect more than 85% of the population. While there is no definite answer as to why we get acne many experts say it is due to hormones, diet, and stress. Today we are not just seeing acne in young pubescent individuals but in adults as well.

Acne is generally divided into four different groups.

Type 1 consists mainly of comedones with an occasional small inflamed papule but without scarring. A comedone is defined as a plug of sebaceous and dead skin material stuck in the opening of a hair follicle. If the follicle is open it is called a blackhead, if it is closed or almost closed it is called a white head.

Type 2 consists of comedones as well but also more numerous papules occurring mainly on the face. With type 2 acne there is usually mild scarring.

Type 3 acne consists of numerous comedones and papules. It usually spreads to the back, chest and shoulder and is sometimes accompanied by a cyst or nodule. With type 3 acne there is generally moderate scarring.

Type 4 acne consists of cysts invading not only the face, but neck and upper trunk as well. With type 4 there is severe scarring.

Experts can not predict which treatment will work best for which type of acne but all of them agree that cleaning your skin with a gentle cleanser morning and night will help. There are oral prescription medications available today but you may be affected by serious side effects not to mention the expense. Another alternative that seems to be having pretty good results is all-natural oral antioxidants. These are a lot less expensive than other treatments and are available without a prescription.

Secret Acne Cure Regimen Guidelines - Acne Cure and Acne Treatement - Most Fail at Treating Acne

What is a regimen? How do I get started? These are questions I hear most frequently. Well it is a secret acne cure that is a basic three step process that is combination of using inexpensive products you can buy over th counter. Most people have already experimented with over the counter products but without much success. This is when the informed people succeed and the non informed fail. It is simple while the over the counter products themselves are very important the quantity used is equally important. Also very vital to success is reducing the irritation of the skin. So when you apply the products apply them gently and leave your skin untouched the rest of the day.

So lets get started all you will need is a mild cleanser and plenty of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and a really great moisturizer go's a long way. Once you have all of the products, you will need to follow step-by-step instructions. This process is simple but incredibly effective.

This is how the process of the Regimen Works.

Step one you will need to gently wash your face. A simple gentle face wash will prepare your skin for when benzoyl peroxide is applied. Doing this is removing surface oils that will allow the benzoyl peroxide to penetrate the skin a lot easier. Washing the skin very gently will help you to avoid irritation. While most scientists and doctors do not claim to know exactly what the causes of acne are, most know that irritation by itself can make the acne a lot worse.

Step two get your 2.5% benzoyl peroxide ready. Benzoyl peroxide seems to oxygenate the skin really well. Acne and bacteria can not survive in highly oxygenated environments. Benzoyl peroxide also causes drying and peeling which research has shown to help keep the pores from clogging. With in the regimen I suggested that you will need to be using 2.5% benzoyl peroxide because research has shown it is just as effective as 5% and 10% benzoyl peroxide but causes less irritation. So keep in mind that irritation can and will aggravate your acne. I have found that using 2.5% benzoyl peroxide is extremely effective in the fight against acne. Why should you apply a lot? Research has not found any conclusive results showing why using a lot of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide is so effective although thousands of others have had great success using this regimen. The theory is simple when you are applying more peroxide we believe it allows it to penetrate deeply into the skin tissue.

Step three consists of a great moisturizer because you will be using 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, most peoples skin will become dry and flaky. When you apply a good moisturizer this will help you keep your skin tissue in line and allow you to have appearance of non flaky skin.

These are just the guide lines of the step by step process and not the actual steps themselves.

Acne Cure - Skin Treatment For Acne Scars - Acne Scar Treatment & Acne Scar Removal

So what do you think causes acne scars? Do you know anything about treating acne or how to cure your scars? Well most people don't now how to treat or remove the acne scars and this can be a very frustrating situation for most people. An acne scar is simple, it's an injury to the tissue. Scars are visible reminders of injury to the tissue that is need of repair. Although acne is due to a injury that's caused when the body has an inflammatory response to sebum, dead cells and bacteria that enter the plugged sebaceous follicle. Their are 2 types of scars that are know to be depressed areas of the skin such as ice-pick scars and also raised thickened skin tissue such as keloids.

When a person's skin tissue has an injury, the body responds by immediately sending repair to the injury. The repair is amongst the elements of white blood cells and inflammatory molecules that are responsible for repair and fighting infection. When the task is done the repair team may leave your skin tissue the form of fibrous scar tissue, or some what of an eroded skin tissue.

The inflammatory molecules and white blood cells some times will remain at a repair site of an active acne lesion some times weeks. Most people are susceptible to scarring, in turn the result some times may be an acne scar. Since the incidence of the scarring is still not well understood, although there are considerable variations of one scarring incidents between one person and another, this indicates that some people are more susceptible to scarring than others. Frequently scarring results from very severe inflammatory nodulocystic acne which will occur deep with in the skin. Although, scarring sometimes may come from more superficial inflamed acne lesions.

The total life span of scars is not well understood either but research has shown that genetics do play a role in acne. Although sometimes people will bear their acne scars for their whole life with little or no change in the scars. Then sometimes in other people the skin gets repaired to some degree and the acne scars decrease in size.

Sometimes people will also have different degrees of feelings about their acne scars. The same scars may have a bigger or profound affect on one person and then be accepted by another person. Research has shown that one seems distressed by the scars more is highly more likely to seek treatment for the scars sooner.

Predicting who will scar is highly difficult. It is also hard to tell exactly how deep or extensive the scars will be and how the life span of the scars.

So a good method and the only sure method of preventing and limiting the affects of acne scars and their life span is to treat at the first signs of acne, and continue to wash and treat face regularly even when no signs are available. The more you can treat your inflammation the more acne can be prevented and in turn the more likely you are to prevent scars.

Use These 7 Acne Skin Care Tips To Ensure Healthy Skin

There's an old saying that people should take care of the skin they're in. While this absolutely correct, those who suffer from acne might have a harder time of it. Handling skin that's prone to break outs, blemishes and even scarring can present challenges, to say the least. There are some solid acne skin care tips that can help.

The first thing to remember about acne skin care is that not all people are alike. Treatments that work wonders for some people might not for others. Some skin will respond beautifully to one production, while others find their cases of acne complicated by flaking, peeling and drying. There are some generalized acne skin care tips, however, that can help almost everyone at least ensure their skin is well cleansed and cared for:

* Don't over wash. Many people believe that acne skin care starts with cleansing, cleansing and more cleansing. While it is true that clean skin is important, generally twice a day will do it. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, such as excessive dirt, sweat or grime, there's no reason to over wash. In fact, it can irritate the skin and actually lead to more breakouts and other complications.

* Don't scrub too hard. This is another propensity of people with acne. Scrubbing the skin to the point of distraction will not make acne go away. It can actually damage the skin, break pimples and lead to scaring. Gentle cleaning is all that's really necessary. Avoid harsh cleansers and harsh cleansing cloths and pads.

* Keep your hands to yourself. Touching, poking and popping pimples will not get rid of them, really. While this might make them look better temporarily, the reality is this practice can lead to permanent scarring.

* Take care when using new products. There are some wonderful acne skin care products that can really help, but these can come with their own kinds of side effects and precautions. Read labels and take care when trying anything new. Test for allergies and side effects by starting out slowly with any new product. This goes for cleansers, astringents, cosmetics and even moisturizers.

* Follow medication directions to the letter and keep an eye out for side effects. Whether it's pharmacy brand medication or actual prescriptions, these medications can be a little harsh, especially at first.

* Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Sure, the sun can make acne prone skin look better for a day or two, but the drying and wrinkling factor won't improve it for long. Use caution in the sun and consider sunscreen to protect against the damaging effects of the sun.

* Get help when it's needed. If no acne skin care efforts at home are paying off, it might be time to consider more serious help. This is especially so for those with moderate to severe cases where potential scar formation is a possibility.

Acne skin care is a carefully balancing act of trying to find out what works and what does not. Some treatments can really help and other might fall flat.

Is the New Period Stopping Pill Safe Enough to Prevent Acne & Pregnancies?

No tampons, no super-sized maxi pads, no cramps... Any Pamprin-pressed woman could rant off endless positives of a period-stopping birth control pill. But is this new menstruation vanishing drug safe and can it still provide acne protection?

What is “period-stopping”
Well, first the period ending contraceptive called Lybrel does not actually stop the period. As the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals points out, birth control induced period stopping is really “menstrual suppression”. The body's response to the seven day absence of birth control hormones after the typical 21-day birth control cycle triggers withdrawal bleeding, not a true period.

Regardless of what it's called, this week's Food and Drug Administration approval of the period skipping contraceptive spawned enough unanswered questions about safeness to fill a month of morning talk shows.

Lybrel
Period suppressing Lybrel comes in a 28 day-pill pack. The pills contain 90 micrograms of a progestin, levonorgestrel, and 20 micrograms of an estrogen, ethinyl estradiol. These active ingredients are similar to and work like other FDA approved contraceptives. Except, you skip the placebos.

Levonorgestrel stops the body's monthly release of an egg from the ovary and thickens cervical mucus which makes it harder for sperm to fertilize an egg.

Lybrel and acne control
Besides preventing pregnancies, Lybrel can also elicit an acne preventing effect. The ethinyl estradiol component of the pill can reduce circulating levels of testosterone and ultimately limit facial oil secretion- one of several factors implicated in provoking acne.

But how will menstrual suppression using Lybrel effectively treat acne?

A study sponsored by Lybrel manufacturer Wyeth does support the acne preventing power of levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol. Yet, ironically, possible side-effects of levonorgestrel include oily skin and acne. If you do experience acne while using an contraceptive containing levonorgestrel, inform your doctor, because commonly prescribed acne antibiotics like tetracycline can make levonorgestrel less effective.

Further study on menstrual suppression needed
While the words “stop your period” may sound melodious to millions of women, to University of New Hampshire professor of the sociology of gender and medical sociology Jean Elson, they sound more like the prelude to a horror movie.

Elson feels, “Employing hormones to curtail normal menstruation strikes me as a very odd mix of feminism and medical authority – women are offered the opportunity to control their own bodies, but what are the real implications?”

Moreover, Elson finds that menstruation has transformed from a biological issue into a social matter and proposes that women, “... might not find their periods so inconvenient if schools and workplaces provided opportunities for people to rest.”

Like Elson, Margaret Freda a professor of obstetrics and gynecology and women's health at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, has doubts about menstrual suppression. This past August, Freda told the American Journal of Nursing, “The jury is still out on total menstrual suppression,” until long-term studies of its safety are done.

A study published in Contraception tested the safeness of continuous daily usage of Lybrel on over 2,000 healthy women who had normal menstrual cycles. Among the participants, Lybrel side-effects were comparable to those reported for 21-days on and 7-days off oral contraceptive regimens.

However, Dr. Camelia Davtyan, an assistant professor of medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, did notice one problem with the study. Davtyan told HealthDay News that, “... the rate of uterine bleeding-related complications is quite high."

Granted some woman have practiced menstrual suppression for years, it could take five to twenty years before medical studies ultimately concur on the overall safeness of this practice. In the meantime, women will once again need to rely on their intuition and personal health needs to decide what is the best way to prevent pimples and pregnancies.

Discover 6 Acne Skin and Scar Treatment Tips To Help You Look and Feel Your Best

An acne scar is a sign you need to get busy and treat your acne. Skin care and skin treatment for acne can be done in many different ways. What is frustrating is what works for one person may not work for another.

In this article we are going to look at six tips anyone can use to help battle acne.

Acne is the term for pimples and complexion problems which occur in young people and some adults. Inflammation of the oil glands in the skin due to an over sensitivity to the normal level of hormones in the body. Pimples usually occur on the face, but may involve the neck, chest, back and upper arms.

Acne is only a skin problem and does not affect your general health. Acrylic Sculptured nail material. Combination of a liquid and powder that is mixed to form the artificial nail.

1. Acne skin treatment is best done before it gets so bad it is creating acne scars. So first of all if you have severe acne or have been trying different things with no results you should visit a dermatologist and get professional help. Prescription medication is something that comes in stronger doses and can not be bought over the counter. You have to get a prescription from a licensed doctor.

A dermatologist deals with acne and skin problems everyday and may be able to help you as well. There are so many different types of medications and treatments they can use that you stand a very good chance of getting your acne cleared up.

2. One thing you can do and you should do is watch what you eat and drink. Soda pop and fruit juices high in sugar are tough on your system. Drinking bottled water, or filtered water, is great for your skin. Drinking water for skin care is not a new idea, but it is tough sometimes to get people to drink more water.

This is especially true of teenagers who do not always watch what they drink or how much they are drinking. Water is good for flushing your system and removing toxins from it. Toxins in your body can actually make your acne worse. Doesn't it make sense to give your body every opportunity to fight acne scars by drinking fresh water everyday!

3. Paying attention to what you eat is another common sense thing that many times is hard to do. With the active lifestyles we all lead it is very easy to not eat properly on a daily basis. One food group that has been proven to help fight acne is vegetables rich in Vitamin A.

These are easy to recognize as anything yellow, green, or bright orange. Vegetables with this color can help your skin. One more thing is to lay off the sweets. Again anything with high sugar levels is not good for acne.

4. Personal hygiene is important in treating acne and skin care. When you wash your face use mild lotions and antibacterial soap. It is often assumed that really scrubbing your face is going to get in a clean your pores where dirt is hard to get to. This is not true and you may actually hurt your face more than you help it when you wash it to hard.

5. It is natural for teenagers today to be engaging in sex at earlier ages than any time in history. The question comes up then does having sex affect acne one way or the other. It has never been proven to cause outbreaks or make acne worse. What is suggested is that acne is more active when your hormones are at their highest and this is when people engage in sex more often.

6. Acne scars generally fall into two categories: physical scars and pigmented scars. This is probably the worse part of having acne. Permanent scarring is for your whole life and therefore that is why it is so important to do everything possible not to let your acne get to that point. If acne scars are causing severe psychological distress, social withdrawal and/or emotional ill-health, a physician should be contacted.

In summary skin treatment and skin care for acne are important to do right away before your acne reaches the scarring stage. A dermatologist is a great way to get the help you need when what you are doing is not working. No matter how you treat it you can help yourself by eating and drinking the right things and practicing good personal hygiene.

Summary: Acne is only a skin problem and does not affect your general health. In this article we are going to look at six tips anyone can use to help battle acne.

3 Steps to Effectively Use Probiotics After Taking Acne Antibiotics

After getting acne under control, the first thing on your mind is probably socializing, shopping and generally leaving your skin related health woes behind. But if antibiotics were apart of your acne axing regime, you may want probiotics to be apart of your acne-afterlife.

Patricia Raymond, a gastroenterologist and assistant professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School, finds that antibiotic usage can negatively impact the colon. Raymond explains, "As antibiotics work to treat a disease, they also kill off healthy micro-organisms in the gastrointestinal tract, paving the way for harmful bacteria to take over."

Probiotics are bacteria that co-exist in the colon with so-called "bad" colon bacteria. About 100 trillion microorganisms populate a healthy bowel. Probiotics balance the pathogen (harmful microorganisms) count, aid digestion and nutrient absorption, and facilitate immune function.

If the number of probiotics drops significantly- due to acne antibiotic usage- other health problems like diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome could result.

You can restore probiotic stability after a series of acne antibiotics in three simple steps.

1. Eat foods that help probiotics thrive

2. Minimize your stress level

3. Take the right probiotics in the right proportions

1.Eat foods that help probiotics thrive

Gary Huffnagle, PhD, of the University of Michigan Health System, is a pioneering researcher into the world of probiotics. Huffnagle recommends supporting probiotic growth by increasing the amount of cultured dairy products you eat, such as cheeses and yogurt.

To encourage probiotics from these dairy products to multiply even further, Huffnagle suggests consuming foods like spices, tea, red wine, berries, apples and beans.

2.Minimize your stress level

Not only should you minimize stress because research teams at Wake Forrest University discovered that stress aggravates acne prone skin, but stress also weakens the colon where probiotics need to work. Research has implicated chronic stress in the development of irritable bowel syndrome and in the worsening of inflammatory bowel disease symptoms.

Moreover, stress sensitizes the gut which increases the likelihood of yet another acne culprit-- developing allergies to certain foods. Reducing your stress level while using probiotic therapy will allow the helpful bacteria to flourish while preempting acne outbreaks.

3.Take the right probiotics in the right proportions

Pharmacist and complementary medicine advocate Dr. Author Presser says the important intestinal bacteria include Bifidobacteria, Lactobacillus (L.) Acidophilus, L. Rhamnosus, L. Plantrarum, L. Bulgaricus, Streptococcus Faecium and Streptococcus Thermophilus. Presser recommends taking probiotic supplements that contain all seven bacteria. In his book, The Nature Pharmacist's Vitamin Primer, Presser points out, "look for a product that contains FOS, fructooligosacchrides."

Presser explains that FOS are sugars found in fruits, vegetables and grains. Microflora metabolize and multiply on fructooligosacchrides both in the intestine and in the tablet.

Likewise, the Harvard Women's Health Watch has three more tips for anyone shopping for probiotics:

• The recommended doses range from 1 billion to 10 billion colony-forming units (CFU)-the amount contained in a capsule or two-several days per week.

• A daily supplement for one to two weeks may improve conditions such as infectious or antibiotic-related diarrhea.

• The microorganisms in probiotic supplements need to be alive when you take them (or when they're freeze-dried for capsules). They may die on exposure to heat, moisture, or air. Some require refrigeration. Read the supplement label for proper storage instructions.

Even though probiotic therapy may appear extraneous after an intense acne regime, just remember that these microflora may also prevent future zit eruptions.

Acne Treatment With Retin-A Tretinoin

Retin-A is one of several medications doctors may prescribe for controlling acne. Retin-A contains Tretinoin (retinoic acid, vitamin A acid). It comes in gel, cream or liquid form and goes on the skin.

How It Works

Retin-A helps break down cell tissues that clog the follicle or skin pores. It also helps extrude the trapped dead cells and oils out of the skin.

How Effective Is It?

In the beginning, more acne may appear. But that is because Retin-A has brought up the acne that was deep in the skin.

Because of this, it is recommended that treatment continue in spite of what appears to be lack of progress. In time, the acne condition will improve.

It may take up to twelve weeks to see a beneficial improvement in the appearance of the skin.

What Are The Side Effects?

For people who are sensitive to Retin-A their skin may become red, swollen or crusted. Some people have also experience changes in the color of their skin. These problems should go away with continued use or when treatment is discontinued.

Retin-A may cause the skin to be sensitive to natural or artificial sunlight. Therefore, while using Retin-A, doctors recommend a sunscreen to protect the skin from ultraviolet rays.

How To Use

Retin-A is applied before bedtime. Wash the skin with mild soap and gently dry. Wait 20 to 30 minute before applying.

Use only enough for the affected area. More medication will not speed up the acne healing process. It takes time for Retin-A to produce results.

Keep Retin-A away from the eyes, mouth, corners of the nose and open wounds. Retin-A is for external use only and should not be taken orally.

Be sure to follow the advice and directions for use by the healthcare provider that prescribed this medication for you.

Adult Acne - How To Care For Skin Prone To Adult Acne

The scientific term for adult acne is Acne rosacea. It appears in the form of pus-filled, red colored eruptions especially on the nose and the cheeks. The occurrence gives the whole face an unsightly appearance.

Adult acne skin care starts with paying close attention to the changes happening in the patient. The vital point to keep in mind is that adult skin is not as resilient and elastic as that of teenagers. All harsh chemicals and products, alkaline soaps that strip off the natural oil of the skin, should be strictly avoided. The face must be washed with mild cleansers specially formulated for oily skin. Excessive washing can stimulate excess oil secretion to replenish the oil balance of the skin, and result in aggravated conditions. A cleanser that contains salicylic acid soothes the inflammations and unclogs the pores to prevent acne breakouts. However it must be used in moderate quantities to preserve the moisture content.

The adult skin lacks the ability to retain moisture effectively after it is subjected to abrasive and dehydrating actions of benzoyl peroxide. Hence the application of hypoallergenic, non-pore-clogging water-based moisturizers may be needed, especially if the skin feels tight and dry after washing.

A gel or lotion that contains silica produces a mattefying effect by soaking up the excess oil. Clay masks are also very useful. Before going out into the sun, a water-based sun-screen with SPF 15 must be used. All make-up must strictly be oil-free in composition. Any cosmetic that contains alcohol or witch-hazel may excessively dry out the skin and hence must strictly be avoided. The face-powder can give a matte look, by controlling the shine due to excess oil, but it might also clog the pores, triggering bouts of acne.

To prevent adult acne, exfoliating the skin is also essential, especially after a long day at work. A retinoid lotion or serum can be used for this purpose. These are derivatives of Vitamin A. these promote the manufacture of collagen by the skin, helping in reduction of wrinkles and sunspots. The skin feels firm and supple. However, sensitiveness to the rays of the sun is enhanced, so these products should be preferably used at bedtime. A patient who is regularly using retinoid products should do well to stay away from waxing or microdermainbrasion because these products end to hinder the self-healing properties of the skin.

Tips For Understanding Hair Loss Remedies And Treatments

The average human head has about 100,000 hair follicles; each follicle can grow about 20 individual hairs during a person's lifetime. Statistics show that most men have a 50% chance of experiencing hereditary hair loss by their 50th birthday. The normal cycle of hair growth lasts from two to six years.

Some mycotic infections can cause massive hair loss. One type of baldness is called traction alopecia, which is most commonly found in people with ponytails or cornrows who pull on their hair with excessive force. Fungal infections of the scalp can cause hair loss in children which is easily treated with antifungal medicines.

Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance; correcting the hormone imbalance may stop the hair loss. Some drugs or medications can cause hair loss, which improves when you stop taking the medicine; medications that can cause hair loss include blood thinners, medicines used for gout, and chemotherapy drugs used for cancer, too much vitamin A supplementation, birth control pills and antidepressants. Wearing a hat generally shouldn't cause baldness, though it's a good idea to give your scalp a rest and let it breathe for several hours a day.

Correcting a hormone imbalance may prevent further hair loss. Hypothyroidism can cause it, especially thinning of the outer third of the eyebrows. Tumors and skin growths can also induce localized baldness.

Go a more natural way with treatment if possible; taking hair loss drugs require many months of exposure to chemicals. Propecia is available with a prescription; comes in pill form, is only for men and may take up to six months before you can tell if it is working. Minoxidil is a very expensive drug, costing about one hundred dollars per month for daily treatment.

Hair loss treatments and remedies range in price from free to expensive. Stress reduction can be helpful in slowing loss. Please be aware there are side effects and serious side effects sometimes with the drugs that are commonly used for hair loss.

Immunosuppressants applied to the scalp have been shown to temporarily reverse alopecia areata, though the side effects of some of these drugs make this therapy questionable. Studies done on subjects of various ages suggests that weight training alone may increase testosterone in studies where aerobic exercise only was compared to either weight training or a moderately sedentary life. There are prescription drugs, herbal remedies and topical applications.

Russian cure with honey and vodka remedy for hair loss - combine one tablespoon honey with one jigger of vodka and the juice of a medium-size onion; rub mixture into the scalp every night, cover with a cap and shampoo in the morning. Apple cider vinegar used as a hair rinse may stimulate hair growth. Rub vitamin E oil into the scalp nightly.

Make sure to test remedies on a small area first and check with your hair loss doctor or skin doctor before trying any natural home remedy if it includes any irritating ingredients. Vodka and cayenne remedy for loss - mix one jigger of vodka with a 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (test on skin first for sensitivity) and rub it on the scalp; blood rushes to the hair follicles stimulated by the vodka and cayenne pepper - be careful if you try it. Try scalp massage every day.

Saw Palmetto is an herbal DHT inhibitor often claimed to be cheaper and have fewer side effects than finasteride and dutasteride; unlike other 5alpha-reductase inhibitors, saw palmetto induces its effects without interfering with the cellular capacity to secrete PSA (protein specific antigen). Olive oil and rosemary remedy - use equal amounts of olive oil and oil of rosemary; combine them in a bottle, shake vigorously, massage into the scalp, put on a cap and shampoo in the morning. Massage the scalp nightly with oil made of one part rosemary oil and two parts almond oil.

Raw onion remedy - take half a raw onion and massage the scalp with it; cover the head overnight, shampoo and rinse in the morning. Beta Sitosterol, which is a constituent in many seed oils, can help to treat BHP (benign prostatic hypertrophy) by lowering cholesterol; but consuming large amounts to get at small quantities of beta sitosterol is likely to exacerbate male pattern baldness. Asian remedy for hair loss - rub sesame oil on your scalp every night, cover with a cap or old towel; in the morning wash with an herbal shampoo, rinse with a solution of one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in one quart of water.

Concentrate on boosting your immune system to give your hair the best chance to regrow. Remember that any drugs you take for hair loss will be a long term commitment; consider the risks to your health before doing this. Remember that regrowing hair is a slow process so don't look for results overnight for any remedy or treatment you try.

Can An Apple Hold the Secret to Luxurious Hair?

You’ve probably heard of the expression “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Now, scientists in Japan have uncovered that apples provide much more than just good health. Scientific studies conducted in Japan in 2000 found medical evidence that apple polyphenols- specifically procyanidin B-2 – increase hair growth. In fact, studies conducted showed that procyanidin B-2 increased hair growth by 300% over the control samples.

This is exciting news. Anyone who has taken medication or pharmaceutical “treatments” for hair loss knows how potentially harmful and how expensive traditional medications can be. Most man-made hair loss solutions have to be prescribed by a doctor, and getting diagnosed can take some time. Not every patient feels comfortable discussing hair loss with their health care worker, and some physicians are downright dismissive of the problems associated with hair loss.

If you do manage to get a prescription for a hair loss medication, you will have to pay hundreds of dollars – or even thousands – for treatment. Be sure to read the warning label on your medication – most pharmaceutical potions have long lists of side effects and potential hazards. Once you do start using your medication, you may notice skin irritation, pain, and even unsightly rashes. Many products have an embarrassing odour, as well.

Once you have survived all of this, you may assume that you will be able to enjoy a full head of hair, but this is not always the case. There are no guarantees and if you look for reviews of major hair growth formulas, you will quickly find that many patients are less than thrilled by the results. Now, the studies from Japan show why these patients are unhappy. Quite simply, the secret to hair loss is not harsh chemicals or strong drugs. The solution is as simple as the polyphenols in an apple.

So how do apples help your hair grow? One secret is their ultra-high antioxidant activity. In concentrated form, polyphenols from apples are far more potent antioxidants than ordinary vitamins. In medical studies, apple chemicals have been shown to improve protein synthesis, and to counteract hormones that cause follicles to shrink and wither. They also "call" resting hair follicles into active growth, and limit cellular processes that cause hairs to shed. Together, this powerful combination increases the productivity of your follicles. The result is longer, thicker, healthier hair- and more of it.

Thankfully, you don’t have to be a scientist yourself, distilling polyphenols in your own lab. An exciting new product brings you all the benefits that Japanese scientists have found in polyphenols – but in an easy-to-use, safe, and affordable form.

Can a Product Like Provillus Really Stop Hair Loss?

Hair loss is one of the worst things that can happen to a man, especially if he is of a relatively young age. Thinning and receding hair can be a big knock to the self esteem of any man, as hair loss can often be seen as a loss of manliness. Of course this is not the case in reality, but to the man with the hair loss problem, it is the focus of his thoughts at the time.

Fortunately there are some products on the market that can help to slow the hair loss process, and in many cases can actually regrow hair that has already been lost. Such products are Rogaine which is also known as Regaine, Advanced Hair, Provillus, and Procerin. There are countless others out there, but these are just a couple that may spring to mind.

One of the best on the market for the last few years has been Provillus. This is a natural remedy that has actually been proven to increase the hair count per square centimetre on a balding mans head. This is an amazing advancement in technology and can put a smile on any man’s face who may suffer from hereditary hair loss.

When using a product like Provillus it is important to start use as soon as hair loss is noticed, because this is when it’s easiest to stop more hair loss and regrow the hair that is becoming thinner.

Continued use of any hair loss product is strongly suggested, because as soon as the treatment has stopped, the hair loss patterns will gradually go back to how they would naturally be. This is because the ingredients in a product like Provillus are simply an aid in regulating the body’s hormone levels and once the levels are stabilised, hair growth will continue. Then when they are put out of balance again, hair loss will naturally occur. There is not permanent cure.

Provillus comes in the form of a tablet so it is very easy to take the correct dosage and can be done easily with a glass of water. The tablets don’t taste like poison like many other treatments and there is no harsh side effects like some other products which can cause headaches and nausea. It is reasons like this that have made Provillus such a popular treatment in the hair loss industry today, of course this goes hand in hand with good diet, exercise and a healthy lifestyle, which are always needed for any type of successful treatment.

Reversing Hair Loss

If you have ever experienced hair loss, you know it can be a frustrating problem that seems to have no end in sight until the process takes its toll. No matter your age, it is likely you will want to keep your hair for as long as possible. This is now possible.

There are several products on the market that have been developed to help stop and prevent hair loss, all working to eliminate the DHT hormone that actually causes it.

When this hormone is present, the blood supply to the hair follicles is cut off, thus shrinking the hair, and eventually causing it to fall out. This may happy rather quickly, or can occur over time. Using a product designed to stop the formation of this hormone will not only stop further hair loss from occurring, but will also help promote the growth of new hair. This will allows you to get back what you have lost, and feel good about knowing it is your own hair. While these products may not work on everyone, they have been proven to be very successful on many men who are seeking to eliminate this bothersome problem.

Before you can decide to use such a product, it will be helpful to understand the actual process that will take place over time. The overall process of reversing hair shrinkage and later promoting the growth of new and healthy hair can take up to a year. There are many factors on which this can depend, but this is a general time frame.

When you begin using such a product, it will take several days to see results. After using one of these products for seven days, you will probably not experience any further heavy hair loss. This means you will not be losing as much hair as before, but some loss will probably still occur. At around day 14, you will begin to see the reversal of hair shrinkage. This is when you know the product is really doing the job.

By the 30th day, you may see some promotion of hair growth. This means that the hair you have lost till begin to grow back. Though you probably won’t notice it at this point, the process will begin. By day 90, you will probably begin the see it.

Over the next several months, you will gradually notice the hair loss process turning itself around so that by the end of the first year, a normal hair growth cycle will begin and the hair loss process will be completely reversed.

As stated above, there are several products on the market that will help you accomplish this. Profinast is one of those products. It is safe to use, and accomplishes everything mentioned above. It has been proven to work effectively, and is widely used.

What is a hair growth cycle consist of?

Hair needs a protein supplement to make it healthy and to grow. This protein is called keratin and the lack of that protein will start to cause hair loss if it is not reversed. A hair growth cycle consists of 3 cycles. I will dispense with the technical terms of the cycles and just suggest different phases.

Phase 1 is where the major of growth hairs are at any given time. For people trying to grow scalp hair, this phase usually lasts between 2 to 6 years in which hairs grows at about 10cm per year.

Phase 2 lasts a short period of time. This is a temporary phase in which the hair follicle diminishes and breaks away from the scalp.

Phase 3 is a resting phase for hair. This phase typically lasts about 2 months in which hair stays attached to the follicle but does not grow. This is the last phase which reflects a dormant stage and normally new hairs are regrown starting back to phase 1.

It is at this junction that if new hairs are not regrown back to phase 1 is when hair thinning starts to happen because new hairs are not regrown to replace the lost hairs thru the normal hair cycle.

Currently there are only a minimal amount of FDA approved treatments to combat hair loss.

These two treatment plans are Finasteride and Minoxidil. However there are no absolutes in the area of hair growth. That's why there are a lot of experimenting still going on to this day to find out how to combat hair loss. With so many issues concerning the human body head of hair, there are as many variations of treatments to use.

How To Stop Hair Loss with Natural Remedies

Hair loss has been a problem for many people for many years and as an effect of that, there is a huge industry of medical companies that are targeting that market with all kinds of products. As it has always been with medicine it is commonly produced in laboratories and often it is therefore a recipe put together by a variety of chemicals. To avoid all those chemicals that our world is full of people are turning to natural hair loss remedies.

Believe it or not but one of the natural remedies that is said to have an effect on the loss of hair is to rub onion juice into the head. This procedure should stimulate the growth of the hair and might have some positive affects on the loss of hair as well. Rubbing onion juice is not a solution for everyone as onion juice will make your eyes water and has a terrible smell – so don’t leave your house with onion juice in your hair. Secondly it doesn’t work for everyone and there has currently not been any real proof to show that this kind of treatment will actually produce any significant results. On the other hand it is a safer and much cheaper solution than the products already on the market, but to compare the two are maybe not fair to neither of the hair loss treatments.

Using onion juice is not the only natural treatment to be used against hair loss as many other herbs are believe to have a positive affect on hair loss and retention of hair, but as with the onion juice the scientific proofs are still missing. One of the reasons for the lack of proof is that these scientific tests are extremely expensive and there are currently no major companies in the market with a sufficient economical strength to carry through these tests and until that happens the only proofs of bettering hair loss comes from the products offered my the companies behind Rogaine and Propecia.

The key ingredient in brand names such as Rogaine is Minoxidil. Rogaine is one of the only over-the-counter products approved by the Food and Drug Administration for men and women and because of that it has gained extreme popularity. You can find lots of other hair loss products on the market making claims similar to those of Rogaine, but other than Finasterade which is marketed under the brand name Propecia, no other product has been approved as a treatment for hair loss by the FDA.

Using a formula with 5 milligrams of Finasterade it has been marketed with the name Proscar and has also been used to treat prostate problems in men. It works by inhibiting the development of Dihydrotestosterone in the body and the drug does show results when using it as one of the hair loss remedies made available. While the product Rogaine is used as a scalp lotion the Propecia product is only available in the form of pills. As a final remark the use of Finasterade is not recommended for women as it is known to cause birth defects, so if your are a woman and are pregnant – stay off the Propecia product.
